In a series of defections from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), fourteen Local Government Chairmen in Adamawa State have defected to the All Progressives Congress, declaring support for Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiris and his administration.

The announcement was made in a joint statement delivered on behalf of the council leaders, describing the move as a collective decision taken in the interest of stability, continuity, and development across the state.

According to the chairmen, their defection was guided by consultations with their constituents and a shared belief that closer alignment with the state government would accelerate grassroots development.

They emphasized that, they are closer to the people, they understand the daily challenges faced in communities — from infrastructure and healthcare to education and security — and believe cooperation between state and local governments is essential for effective service delivery.

The statement highlighted what the chairmen described as measurable achievements by the Fintiri administration, noting improvements across key sectors and the need for political uniformity in order to sustain the progress.

They also dismissednthe alleged  suggestions that the move was motivated by pressure or personal gain, insisting it was driven by conviction and a commitment to accountable and people-centered governance.

The defectors assured residents across the 14 local government areas that their loyalty remains with the people and that their mandate continues to be service at the grassroots.

The statement concluded with a call for unity and a pledge to secure a stable and prosperous future for the people of the state and the nation, Nigeria.
